My brother's medication is messing with him and all he can do is stare blankly at the turkey. So the plan fell through which wasn't so bad because I had a list of people in mind.
Anyways, I mentioned the interview to family members at both households that I was visiting. A lot of people treated the microphone as if it was gunna suck out their soul if they spoke into it, which I had to remind them that only cameras do that. Finally my boyfriend's grandmother mentions some stories and I start recording her. In the end, I believe that I got something really meaningful for my final. It made me miss my Nanna. I write to her every week <3
But I also miss the stories of my brother burning giant piles of poo in the army.

New Final Project Plan
I have decided to do an audio piece around the interview with my brother. The interview audio will only be two minutes or less. If the story is really interesting then it will go longer. He is a paranoid/ depressed/ schizophrenic that used to serve in the army so he has a lot to say and it is all really interesting and sometimes funny.
There will be additional audio added to the commentary by my brother.
My plan: Record brother on thanksgiving. Over the following weekend I will edit down the 40 minutes and find something really interesting for the 2-3 minutes. Then I will make a list of sounds that I think will be best for the background. Over the course of that week I would like to record audio relevant to the interview. The weekend before the audio is due, I would like to edit the audio.

Final project plan
What you plan to create or develop:
I would like to develop the video.
What you hope to learn and or develop in the process:
Hopefully I will learn how to make the video seem more disjointed with some effects. I would also like to add some better audio. The audio I was thinking of would have an empty feeling.
How you plan to go about the project:
My plans are to record some sounds that give the feeling of disjointed emptiness. Such a type of noise would be static on a television or a record that has completed but is still turning. Once I have the audio worked out, I would like to work with the video and make some interesting edits.
A timeline for your work and revision between now and dec 8:
My timeline is to work with video this week (from now until 22nd) and see if there are any types of edits or effects that I would like to add. Next week I would like to collect audio and add the new audio to the video. (from 23rd until 29th) For the weekend before the video is due (27th until 29th) I will be finishing the edits for the video and audio to make sure that everything is running smoothly and to see if I want to add any more audio or video effects. At this point I would rather be at the stage of fine tuning everything.

Final Video
Untitled from diana hunter on Vimeo.
The video is about what is going through the mind of someone who might have depression (or at least I did.) When depressed I could never focus on anything except how sad I was. That is why I kill the noise of nature with static and backwards thoughts. In the end I move forward in life.
Originally I didn't know what kind of sound I wanted to put in but once I decided on a white noise that kind of blocked out life along with my backwards thinking, I wanted something to transition well into a less depressed nature. That is why at the end where the woman moves forward, I use the sound of crickets. I thought that the sound of crickets was a nicer transition from static then the sound of birds or leaves crushing.
